The Federal Republic of Nigeria turns 100 years as a nation this year, 2014. The Federal Government of Nigeria and other institutions have lined up series of events to commemorate the Centenary. As a concerned responsible corporate entity owned by Nigerians in the United States, Royal Maids LLC, and its corporate partners in Nigeria and Sweden; African Trade Centre, and Leniwi Consulting Nigeria Ltd respectively deem it necessary to initiate a viable platform for Nigerians in Diaspora to join in the centenary celebration. Consequently we decided to host the NIGERIAN CENTENARY WEEK in New York, USA..
Centenary week will feature,
- Arts & Cultural Exhibition - Showcasing Nigeria's finest arts and cultural wealth
- Centenary Lecture - Presentations will be made by keynote speakers regarding our nation, and the plans implemented towards its socio-economic growth
- Awards/Gala Night & Fashion Show - Presentation of awards to deserving Nigerians both in Diaspora and at home. Followed by a Fashion Parade chronicling the story of our nation through fashion from the year 1914 till date
The Nigeria Centenary Week is fully endorsed by the Consulate General of Nigeria, New York. The organizing body has also opened up communications with relevant institutions in Nigeria including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation Agency (NOA) securing their involvement and participations.
Our aim through this initiative is to take the Nigerian Centenary Celebration to a world stage using the process to project Nigeria in good light, telling the story of Nigeria these 100 years in a way to dispel some of the negative information about Nigeria and Nigerians.
